Well, it appears to have finally arrived. This year, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival runs from the 5th to the 29th of August. It lays claim to the title of the world’s biggest arts festival. And I’m going to be a part of it. I’ll be performing my show Be Prepared at Greenside Studio 2 for the whole three weeks.
The show is a collection of oddball, off-the-wall stories, some funny, some poignant, and some completely bizarre. The show covers everything from Nina Simone to the tsunami in the Indian Ocean, taking in such diverse subjects as how to rename your parents and why it is important for a young man to own his own eagle.
I’ve performed it at various other festivals – both here and in other countries. I’ve had some lovely press reviews and my audiences always seem to have enjoyed themselves. But nevertheless, there’s something about taking a show to Edinburgh which can curdle the marrow of even the most hardened performer.
In an effort to steady my nerves therefore, I’ve taken on the challenge of blogging about my Edinburgh experience for the wonderful Whatsonstage.com.
You can follow the blog here: http://www.whatsonstage.com/edinburgh and I’m hoping it will prove to be an excellent talking cure.
Be Prepared and Other Stories runs at Greenside Studio 2 throughout the festival. You can buy tickets on edfringe.com or by phone on: 0131 557 2124
